Punya Kaarya, in collaboration with Ambuja Foundation, has launched a three-year Pediatric Lung Health Initiative for children living in the cement-belt communities of Chandrapur, Maharashtra.
Using digital technology and community-based healthcare, local villagers and health workers are being trained to screen children for respiratory problems such as asthma, chronic lung disease, tuberculosis and other respiratory conditions.
Children identified as needing further evaluation are referred to quarterly specialist medical camps, led by Dr Indu Khosla and her team of pediatric and respiratory specialists from Mumbai. Children requiring treatment are provided appropriate medical care and referred to local healthcare facilities when necessary.
Our aim is to create a sustainable model of early detection and accessible pediatric respiratory care, empowering communities to recognise lung disease early and helping children receive the care they need.
